On Saturday, November 16, 2025, the people of Ibadan, Oyo State came together for an inspiring day of connection, learning, and community impact at the Community Empowerment Day 2025 — a local event organized to promote skill development, youth empowerment, and neighborhood growth.

Hosted at the Community Civic Centre, Iwo Road, the event attracted over 500 residents, including entrepreneurs, students, artisans, and community leaders. It featured a range of engaging sessions on entrepreneurship, personal finance, digital skills, and health awareness.

The highlight of the day was a panel discussion titled “Building Sustainable Businesses in Our Communities”, led by successful local entrepreneurs who shared real-life experiences on how they started small and built thriving businesses despite challenges.

Participants also enjoyed free vocational training sessions on fashion design, catering, and mobile phone repairs, organized in collaboration with local NGOs and small business mentors. Young people especially appreciated the tech bootcamp corner, where they learned basic digital marketing and freelancing skills.

In addition to learning, the event served as a hub for networking and collaboration. Community members met potential partners, business mentors, and investors eager to support local innovation.

The Community Empowerment Day wrapped up with an award ceremony recognizing outstanding youth volunteers and small businesses making a positive difference in their neighborhoods.

“This is more than an event — it’s a movement to empower our people and show that change begins right here at home,” said the event coordinator, Mrs. Funke Adetunji, during her closing remarks.

As the sun set on an impactful day, smiles and renewed hope filled the air. Plans are already in motion for the 2026 edition, which promises to be even bigger and more inclusive.
